My Paintings
Since this blog is primarily directed at artists, with information on how I use gouache and other miscellaneous art ramblings, I’ve gathered my work into ‘galleries’ on my Showcase Blog. After you’ve perused the posts and pages on this blog, please visit the showcase here.

Hi Ralph–this site is just wonderful–I am just starting with gouache and this has been more help than u can imagine. Big thanks!!
Hi Robyn. Thanks for looking in. I’m glad you’re finding it useful!
I really admire your positive way of looking at the venues. You are a great artist. Have you found a good place to sell your art?
Hi Amy… I continue to sell at art fairs and festivals for the time being. Thanks for visiting.
Hello Mr. Parker
I love your sketch of the Conestoga wagon and would like to copy it into our quarterly historical newsletter as an illustration of same. We circulate about 300 copies, all free, to our membership and visitors to the museum. We are a not for profit group and would like your permission to do so. We would give you credit immediately under your sketch.
Thank you,
Carl
Ralph,
You are very talented.I have enjoyed reading about your use of Gouche. I think the artwork is quite impressive. How often do you paint?Do you set a work schedule for yourself. You have large amount of work. I am just getting back into painting after years and would love to see what I could do if I took it seriously.
Heather, thank you very much! For the past few years, I have tried to paint every day, even if only for an hour or two. I tried setting a schedule, but never quite got good at it. We are going through a major transition, so it’s hard to say how the painting schedule will go for a while. You can read about all that at http://www.backroadsandbrushes.wordpress.com
Thank you Ralph for sharing your experiences and inspiration. I will join Heather to say thank you for gouche painting step-by-step’s.
I love your barn paintings and would love to see them in person.is that possible in Georgia?I am very interested!

Hi , Good to see your work. I had a misconception about gouache. It had been used by artists to portray the melancholy side because of its tendency to easily get the muted darker tones. But, then I saw your work. What a vibrant refreshing change and a whole new outlook. The sun splashed auras that you capture in landscape pulls the viewer into the setting. Thanks , Viewer from Louisiana
Viewer from Louisiana, thank you for those nice comments. Every time I start thinking my work is too bright and colorful, I’ll think of your observation!
I “found” you by Googling gauche. It’s the latest medium I’d like to try & you helped me a LOT by describing your techniques. You have a great way with words, too, I might say. Thanks!
Is the Ohio Farm Scene Hills and Hollers oil or acrylic?
Jeannie, I’m not sure what piece you’re talking about, but nothing I have showing is oil, and very little is acrylic.
