Through the Woods

Through the Woods, 10x8, Gouache

This wooded road ran beside a river near Mount Vernon, Ohio.  Trying to capture the play of light in the tree foliage and the shadows across the road is always fun.  I tried to keep the brushwork pretty loose here, and kept the palette simple and a bit high key.  I love simple scenes like this.

You certainly created the play of light on the foliage with shadows. I love it! I also turned a very
dear friend onto your website who recently lost her husband and used to be involved in art and
I have heard from her that she has found your site very encouraging for her to take up the paint
brushes again. Recently she spent a lot of time in the south of France where the light is so different
and a key part of compositions. Thank you for your time that you donate to us who are also trying to
pursue our efforts in art. Pam
