Cluster

March 29, 2010

I’ve neglected these pages while setting up the “showcase” blog, so I’ll get back with this new little one.  It’s a simple cluster of trees along the roadside, but I’ve taken a more tonal approach.  The palette is very similar to one I often use, consisting of yellow ochre, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, titanium white, and black.  The difference here is the inclusion of black and the omission of medium yellow.  I’ve included a couple of closeup detail views as well.

This is 5×7, gouache on gessoed Crescent board

And a couple of closeups to show the brushwork…
