Still Life Work

Still Life is a complete departure from landscapes, one which I’ve only briefly explored.  They are great exercises in dealing with hard surfaces, shine, reflection, to say nothing of causing one to stretch one’s drawing muscles a bit.  These little paintings are not for sale. I put them up here simply as a matter of interest. Some of the items in these compositions are family heirlooms, and thus have a sentimental significance. The watch belonged to my wife’s mother; the little ceramic jewelry box was my mother’s; and the cigarette box was my father’s. This is a genre I hope to explore a bit more in the future.
